Winter Tree

I am a winter tree!
I shed my colorful leaves
I bared my soul to the winter winds
As snow fell on my trembling limbs
Sun, Moon, and stars watched
As my leaves fell like snowflakes
They fell so very quietly at my feet
I watched helplessly
As the wind took them away
I look worn out even though
I have less weight to bear
I am strong and elegant
I sway and flow gracefully
In bitter cold winter winds
My beautiful soul awaits
For the arrival of Spring
For tender green leaves
To vibrantly embrace me
Cloth me in their warmth
I long to hear Hummingbirds sing
While they build their beautiful nests
I await to shelter their tiny babies
When their eggs hatch
I am a wise old tree!
I am aware these cycles repeat
Until the end of time
I am a wise old winter tree!
