A Tiny Invisible Foe

Can’t see it with our naked eyes
Can’t escape from it
Can’t touch our faces
Can’t hug our family and friends
Desperately waiting for the day we can
Prisoners in our homes
With nowhere to hide
Washing hands compulsively
Checking if we can still smell the soap
Humanity stopped in its tracks
World standing still in fear
Countless dead in its wake
After unending 48 months
2020 and 2021 slipped by us
Yet, no light at the end of the tunnel
Humanity collectively on hold
Waiting and hoping …
Covid the tiny invisible foe and its variant friends
Turned our lives upside down
As we wait to return to our old lives
Hoping our world will remain the same
Sun, moon, Stars continue to shine
Earth continues to spin
Seasons continue to change
Rivers continue to flow
Oceans are teaming with life
Flowers are still blooming
Birds are still singing
Animals are thriving
Every living being is unaffected by this tiny foe
Except us humans at the top of the food chain
Reminds me of the story of a mighty lion defeated by a tiny mouse!
